FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sagle, ID – October 27, 2025 – Encoder Products Company (EPC), a leading manufacturer of premium rotary incremental and absolute encoders, is proud to announce it has been certified as a Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) small business by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). This certification reflects EPC's commitment to fostering economic growth in historically underutilized areas and positions the company for expanded opportunities within the federal contracting landscape.
EPC currently holds contracts with the United States Air Force (USAF) for ordnance components, where its encoders provide crucial feedback for critical applications. With the HUBZone certification, EPC is now eligible to compete for set-aside contracts and receive preferential consideration in full and open contract competitions. The federal government has a goal of awarding at least 3% of prime contract dollars to HUBZone-certified firms annually, and EPC is well positioned to serve in this way.
“EPC’s solutions are built for complex motion control requirements, from antenna alignment to suspension systems,” said Bob White, CEO of Encoder Products Company. “This certification aligns our advanced encoder technology with the federal sector’s evolving needs—especially in defense, aerospace, and automation.” The certification supports the company's commitment to strengthening the local community while enabling EPC to pursue more federal contracting opportunities. The company is confident the designation will allow them to leverage their expertise in demanding applications, bringing innovative solutions to an expanded set of government needs.
While continuing to serve the USAF with high-quality ordnance components, EPC is targeting new markets where precision, speed, position, or direction feedback is essential. These include:
• Radar systems: Encoders are essential for accurate antenna positioning and tracking in various radar applications.
• Turrets and Gimbals: Precise motion control for aiming and stabilization in defense systems requires robust and accurate encoders.
• Other Flight and Ordnance applications: EPC aims to provide encoder solutions for a broader spectrum of aerospace and defense platforms requiring high-performance feedback.
EPC’s facility in Sagle, Idaho, USA is the headquarters for the Americas Division, for most of it’s worldwide manufacturing, and encoder research and development. The company's commitment to quality and innovation, combined with the new HUBZone certification, positions EPC for continued growth and expanded contributions to the federal sector.
